AN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADVISOR IS REQUIRED FOR ONE OF THE WORLD’S LEADING PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION GROUPS 
Occupational Health Advisor Hertfordshire
Salary from £36,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hays Healthcare is currently working with one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups. The UK operation is one of the country’s top 10 contractors and they are currently seeking applicants for an Occupational Health Advisor position they currently have available.

The role requires the successful applicant to support the organisation’s commitment to the health safety and wellbeing of its employees through the delivery of an effective occupational health (OH) service. To support the SOHA in delivering quality OH support to the company.

Responsibilities and duties/Key accountabilities

Work in collaboration with and provide professional assistance to key stakeholders.

Assist in the development of OH policies and procedures.

Undertake and participate in OH audit programme.


Management and delivery of services as agreed by key stakeholders and identified in specific operating unit service level agreement.

Provision of management reports and statistical information as agreed in service level agreement.

Development and delivery of specialist training/toolbox on specific health issues.

Undertake health surveillance and other periodic health assessments for employees in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.

Undertake and provide advice to management and HR on the outcome risk based pre-placement health assessments including fitness for safety critical posts.
Provide support and advice to managers and employees in relation to sickness absence.

Provide planned rehabilitation strategies and other initiatives to support the return to work of employees following periods of ill health or injury.

Provide pro-active support to the business in the management and reduction of absence.

Advise management on reasonable adjustments to the workplace and other considerations in accordance with the Equality Act.
Development and implementation of preventative health programmes specific to workplace hazards.
Development and implementation of employee wellbeing activities and initiatives.
Support the OH initiatives - Fit by Design, Fit for Work and Fit for Life.
Liaise with external health professionals and agencies as appropriate.
Maintain confidential occupational health records.
Maintenance of professional standards and own continuing professional development.
Candidates applying for this position will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and have a Specialist Qualification in Occupational Health.
