Hays Healthcare is proud to be exclusively working alongside the Greater Manchester Police Force (GMPF) to assist in the recruitment of a Senior Occupational Health Physician for their service. This job is a full-time interim contract for a minimum of six months. There is certainly scope for this role to become permanent.

Job Role / Key Accountabilities:

As one of the UK’s largest police forces, the GMPF and its staff are supported by The Occupational Health and Welfare unit. Part of the Human Resources Branch, their primary focus is to support managers with advice to enable them to make informed decisions regarding individual cases and to expedite the return to work of employees following accident, injury or sickness.

The main duties for the Occupational Health Nursing Advisor would include the following (a full job description can be requested by interested applicants):

· Conduct sickness management clinics to assess staff.
· Examine and assess staff who attend the unit, exercising clinical judgement regarding treatment, advice and onward referral.
· Undertake ‘Nurse-led medicals’.
· Undertake domiciliary visits, when appropriate.
· Implement the delivery of training programmes.
· Assist in clinical audits.

Person Specification:

Prospective applicants should please consider the following parameters, prior to submitting their applications for this role:

· Registered General Nurse with three years post registration experience
· Certificate/Degree/Diploma is Occupational Health
· Computer Literate
· Ability to conduct sickness management clinics and to assess physical and psychological health problems
· Knowledge of relevant health and safety issues
