Key Functions and Expected Performances: 1. Treatment Intervention-Provides therapeutic interventions for identified objective deficits and goals. Demonstrates ability to: Provide treatment consistent with physician prescription and plan of care established by physical therapist / occupational therapist. In collaboration with the supervising therapist, modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. Supervise and direct technicians and volunteers. Follow correct protocol for care. Education 0096Provides education/consultation to patient, family, team and community. Demonstrates ability to: Communicate functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, diagnosis, and disease process. Assist the therapist in planning for the discharge needs of the patient. Adapt communication to needs/level of understanding of audience and share appropriate information/literature. May participate in providing educational experiences and professional development activities as outlined in the Career Advancement Program guidelines. Compliance and Quality Documentation. Demonstrates ability to: Consistently choose the appropriate MediServe template by the mid-year review. Utilize only approved abbreviations within patient documentation. Consistently meet department documentation standards regarding timeliness of documentation by the mid-year review. Consistently meet VUMC documentation standards. Functions as integral member of team. Demonstrates ability to: Comply with policies and procedures. Respect the roles and professional boundaries of others. Promote the role of physical therapy/occupational therapy to patients, physicians, case managers, social workers, and support staff. Collaborate with the patient/family regarding functional therapy goals. Carry a full patient caseload by the end of the first 90 days of employment. Cross cover within all general areas of the department as needed. Collaborate with the patient/family and team regarding discharge disposition. Assist other team members with treatments when schedule allows. Professional Development-Demonstrates contributions to the professional development of self and profession: May participate as required in educational experiences and professional development activities as outline in the Career Advancement Program guidelines. Advocate for discipline and profession. Continue to progress the skills of self and team through attending in-services and continuing education programs. May provide educational programs to promote awareness of the role of the profession and discipline. Productivity-Meet the department productivity standard.
