Position Description:

Financial Planning – Coordinates and participates in the Business Review. Analyzes, recommends, and maintains the optimal vendor matrix. Prepare department sales and stock targets. Develops department level store sales plans with support from opportunity analysis. Reviews the monthly flow of department-level topside plans. Executes the formal departmental topside plan review, and assists in the group level topside plan review. Assists the Buyer in the development of class and key item plans. Provides planning systems expertise for other users. Partners with Director to coordinate potential systems and process enhancements. Adheres to the company’s planning calendar.

Purchasing, Allocation and Replenishment – Ensures best practices for assortment planning and makes recommendations to support allocation strategies. Provides analysis and research to support the creation of the assortment matrix and buy plans. Provides pertinent feedback to the Allocator to support the development of store volume / climate clusters and the implementation of allocation tables. Guides micro-merchandising strategies to optimally incorporate store demographics into the assortment and allocation processes. Participates in the weekly allocation strategy/issues sessions. Evaluates purchase order placement activity as well as the maintenance of and revisions made to purchase orders. Reviews case pack and order flow recommendations. Makes recommendations for fixture/square footage capacities based on research and analysis. Participates in handling store communications regarding allocations. Reviews store feedback related to size planning. Conducts analysis to measure allocation effectiveness. Initiates merchandise transfers and monitors transfer and locator activity. Aids in providing systems expertise for other users (BWM, BA, SPIN), and coordinates recommendations for systems enhancement requests.

Pricing and Marketing – Provides department level information to assist in the planning of advertising and promotions. Participates in store visits as feasible. Provides timely response to store visit notes as requested

Open-to-Buy Monitoring – Analyzes store-level inventory productivity (WOS, T/O) and recommends adjustments to business trends. Provides information to aid in topside inventory productivity and merchandise profitability analysis. Monitors actual to planned receipts at the department level. Assists in department level stock ledger review. Provides information to aid in the age of inventory/exit strategy.

Merchandising –Analyzes and make recommendation with regard to department/vendor level merchandise strategy (to maximize sales and profitability). Develops business plan by department, and then breaks out by store. Monitors industry trends and provides feedback from evaluating competition.

People Development – Manages organization and staffing and participates in skills training and development. Participates in team’s activities, and helps to support and develop a team environment.

? University or college degree or commensurate retail experience
? Minimum 3 years experience in a buying, planning, or allocation capacity.
? Strong business and financial analysis skills.
? Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI)
? Strong communication and presentation skills.
? Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel and the Buyers Workmate suite.
? Ability to develop strong managerial and leadership skills.

Qualifications:

* 3years experience as a Planner in a retail setting.
* Strong Excell skills
* Demonstrated track record of success in building business.
* Demonstrated track record of developing staff.
