Position Description:
Under the direction of the Selling Service Manager, the Selling Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, driving individual Sales per Hour (SPH) and contributing to the achievement of the department goals. The Selling Specialist is the expert in their assigned area, while also maintaining whole store knowledge. The Selling Specialist is the subject matter expert in their assigned department and will communicate product needs, train associates on product knowledge, champion event execution and clientele through appointments and up-selling.
Selling and Service Behaviors
- Identifies customer needs through probing and listening and selects merchandise that meets client needs.
- Builds the sale by suggesting additional merchandise and up-selling.
- Actively seeks input from customers and communicates findings to management to increase sales.
- Acts as a role model by modeling selling behaviors.
- Maintains focus on driving individual SPH and achieving departmental sales goals.
- Achieves individual metrics in sales, credit acquisition, MORE acquisition and Units Per Transaction (UPT).
- Clienteles by building a client book and regularly calling customers to set appointments for the client to come in and view new arrivals, promotions and events.
- Is the product knowledge expert for their assigned department and trains staff on product knowledge.
- Champions event execution.
Other Responsibilities
- Participates in the ongoing maintenance of the selling floor, fitting rooms and customer areas and recovering the floor as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be goal oriented, with a demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and metrics.
- Ability to identify customer needs and communicate effectively; sharing findings with management and notifying clients of new arrivals, promotions and events.
- Must be flexible in scheduling as the business needs require evening, weekend and holiday schedules.
- Prior retail sales experience or a proven track record of success in a selling workforce with achieved results.
