Oil Accountant – Qualified recruitment

We are a Blue Chip Commodities Trading company based in Canary Wharf, London. Looking for a qualified accountant to join our European Finance team to work as an Oil Accountant.

The role is Accountant as part of a team responsible for the accounting and reporting of Global Oil Europe (GOE) legal entities.

The role will involve assisting the group submissions, ensuring they comply with Group Policies and controls.

Key accountabilities:
- Assist in ensuring that all GOE financial reporting is carried out in accordance with Group accounting policies and the Group Reporting Manual (GRM) and submitted to the Group timetable
- Act as focal point for ensuring GOE sales and other operating revenues are accounted for in accordance with the GRM
- Act as focal point for ensuring GOE derivatives are accounted for in accordance with the GRM
- Ensure GOE Balance Sheet presentation for Debtors, Creditors and Derivative balances is compliant with netting rules.
- Assist in the Balance Sheet Integrity (BSI) monitoring on a monthly basis
- Assist in the GOE GAIT review quarterly
- Striving to enhance the control environment
- Working with teams in IST Finance to implement best practices and to continue to improve processes and reporting capabilities.
- Prepare required Statutory Accounts and Financial Services Authority returns in accordance with submission deadlines.

Essential Education:
- Qualified accountant

- Proven record of working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines
- Ability to interpret and communicate results and analysis
- Ability to network across BP and work with senior management on issues
- Strong project background with a desire to make improvements to processes
- Influencing, networking and relationship building skills
