POSITION DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Operation Maintenance Manager (OM), the incumbent provides direction to plant personnel ensuring continued safe, reliable power to Crockett Cogeneration’s customers, while maintaining environmental standards and budgetary constraints. Provides frontline supervision of an assigned rotating shift and is responsible for all Crockett personnel assigned to that shift, along with subcontractors working on site and provides coordination of plant operations with steam and electrical hosts.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Monitor and evaluate plant production output, efficiency and related variables (e.g., heat rate, cost/unit of production, system demands and capabilities given various circumstances) and the overall effectiveness of operation practices and procedures.

·         Maintain plant files and records of plant operating data including updating and/or building production spreadsheets.

·         Maintain communications with CH steam host shift crew and utility load dispatchers to adjust and/or advise them of load changes and load shedding.

·         Monitor readings from controls (temperature, pressure, flow, etc.) for long term variances from normal trends.

·         Respond to the variances and issue instructions to adjust and maintain proper steam flow and power generation. Instruct Operation Maintenance Technicians (OMT’s) to make immediate corrective adjustments as necessary.

·         Maintain daily operating OM Supervisor logbook and verify OMT logs are up to date and accurate.

·         Maintain plant security and act as the primary immediate contact with first responders in emergency situations.

·         Responsible for administering the lock-out/tag-out policy and out-of-service commitments for equipment when maintenance is performed. Perform LOTO training for subcontractor and ensure their compliance with all related standards.

·         Direct the activities for OMTs to achieve annual budget operating goals.

·         Assist the OM Manager in running an efficient and high availability plant to meet or exceed annual budget goals.

·         Implement and maintain the plant safety program and assure that the proper safety equipment and procedures are followed by all on-duty personnel.

·         Responsible for the overall supervision, scheduling, training, and development of OMTs.

·         Direct the safe operation of the plant.

 

 

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED required and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a generation or cogeneration facility along with a strong knowledge and understanding of safety policies and practices.  Competent oral and written communication skills are required.  The incumbent must have attained the highest Operator skill level (OMT3) in the Crockett Training and Qualification Program or be able to pass within 12 months of promotion or employment.  Other skills required include a working knowledge of computer systems and word processing and spreadsheet software, and the ability to read, interpret and apply knowledge from technical manuals and drawings. Large frame combined cycle experience is preferred.  Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Incumbent must adhere to established CAMS and Crockett Cogeneration policies and procedures under the direction of the OM Manager.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Driving on company business is a requirement of this position and as such, the incumbent shall maintain a valid California driver’s license.

 

Participate in company respiratory program.

 

Perform repetitive and non-repetitive physical duties. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, working in awkward positions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

 

Capable of making critical decisions and giving clear direction to others under stressful conditions.
