State Auto Insurance Company, a ninety-year-old, A rated (Excellent) property-casualty insurance company has an opening in our Columbus, Ohio, corporate headquarters for an experienced Online Learning Specialist. The online learning specialist will be assigned to specific internal customers.  Their role is to jointly identify and achieve the learning objectives for that function.  The online learning specialist will develop, design and deliver online courses, based on learning objectives established with the customer’s subject matter expert.  The online learning specialist will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure of the customer’s learning academy, including use of a Learning Management System as well as serving as the online course troubleshooter.  The online learning specialist will also answer learning and development questions posed by their customers and work closely with other members of the Strategy and Organization Effectiveness team.

Qualified applicants should possess a college degree or equivalent work experience required. Knowledge of adult learning techniques and past training experience is preferred.  Experience/knowledge of corporate or personal Web design, HMTL and java is helpful. Understanding and knowledge of Learning Management System is useful.  Candidate must have strong organization and time management skills, be results oriented with a solid track record of delivering results within established time frames.  Candidate must have ability to build lasting relationships and value diversity. An applicant must be a strong communicator with the ability to present ideas in business-friendly, user-friendly language.  Must have strong collaboration skills, including the ability to ask questions and thoroughly listen to needs of customers prior to providing suggestions.  Must be customer focused as position success will depend on ability to meet the learning needs of the customer.  Must be able to work independently to gather facts, draw conclusions and make recommendations. Must be able to evaluate implemented learning strategies and suggest new techniques when necessary. The incumbent must stay abreast of advances in adult learning and learning technologies.
