Online Marketing Coordinator / Web Writer

Job Description Responsibilities
The Online Marketing Coordinator / Writer is responsible for coordinating the website’s development and writing new content on request. Coordination and planning activities include website architecture, usability, content, features, and design as well as executing Internet marketing and communication programs.

The primary website to be developed and maintained is www.manufacturing.energy.gov, however sub-sites and partnering sites are also part of the portfolio. This individual will support clients in a highly visible program that is responsible for promoting energy efficiency through cutting-edge industrial technologies.

Qualifications Required
The Online Marketing Coordinator / Writer needs to have a proven record of accomplishment in developing and administering online marketing or promotional programs. Strong leadership experience and marketing savvy in the dynamic online segment are a must along with strong user-oriented web writing skills. The candidate must be motivated to understand how website visitors find information and improve web design/usability. Other competencies include:

–Ability to manage several simultaneous projects and resources without losing focus
–Highly organized; detail and results oriented

–An understanding of electronic and traditional marketing and media disciplines

Responsibilities and Activities

Primary responsibilities include helping clients communicate programs and product offerings through their website and achieve targeted strategic communications goals through planning and implementing select online marketing activities. The focus is on promoting and expanding the reach and impact of educational/partnership content and programmatic efforts.

The Online Marketing Coordinator / Writer will independently perform the following activities, at a minimum:

–Develop web content including responding to time-sensitive requests
–Apply excellent leadership and organization skills to oversee, develop, and implement client websites
–Design site architectures to enable stakeholder audiences to effortlessly navigate and use website features and functionality
–Ensure business and government requirements related to site development are followed
–Create new work orders and allocate them to the appropriate team members
–Review and test work orders during site implementation
–Plan information architecture to meet client specifications
–Manage site requirements and usability testing projects
–Understand and work within budget specifications in key areas including content creation and design, e-commerce, work order testing, online tracking and analysis, new site concept development, and search engine optimization
–Develop thorough, insightful recommendations to improve design, technical, content, on-page and off-page optimization essentials
–Apply new technology, media, interactive research and emerging standards related to Internet marketing and electronic media
–Understand website design best practices based around visitors' needs and to improve accessibility to search engines
–Interest and knowledge in blogs, SEO, SEM, forums, wikis, widgets, social media, and business analytics
–Design, manage and implement Internet marketing programs to potentially include organic search optimization, blog implementation and link-building
–Manage basic reporting and tracking, and report metrics and flagging issues appropriately
–Propose new Internet marketing strategies
–Manage day-to-day client and company relationships through conference calls, meetings, and presentations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum BA/BS required with emphasis in marketing, communication, public policy, or related field, plus at least five (5) years of relevant experience. The Online Marketing Coordinator/Web Writer also needs to understand basic marketing fundamentals, e-commerce, web content creation and integration, and campaign development and promotion. Experience writing on issues related to energy efficiency, technology development, and/or manufacturing are preferred. Government and/or major consulting firm experience are a plus. This is not a web programmer position.
