Open Ended Fund Accountant recruitment
Role description
This role involves leading a team of around 10 staff with a view to ensuring the successful delivery of reports as set out in our client service level agreements.
Reporting line
The role will report directly to the Manager of the team.
Location
The role will be principally based in Glasgow although some travel may be required to client premises and other.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities associated with the role are summarised (but not limited to) those listed below:
Manage a team of around 10 staff including 2-3 Senior Accountants
Reporting deliverables for c.30 funds in accordance with agreed client service level agreement, associated KPI targets and regulatory requirements
Review and sign-off of deliverables including:
oYear end and interim financial statements
oMonthly reconciliation control packs
oManagement service charge calculations
oDistribution calculations
oYield calculations
oTrustee packs
oONS Returns
oDaily income checks
oCash breaks
oExpense analysis
Daily people management and planning to ensure KPI and other deliverables are met
Training and development of team members
Timely escalation of any issues to Manager
Corrective and preventative action if deadlines / quality standards are at risk
Ensure internal team management information is completed on a timely basis
Resource planning
Time recording, TOIL management and holiday authorisation
Key responsibilities (continued)
Communication with Clients, Auditors, Trustees, Custodians and other departments
Plan and manage all Client, Audit, Trustee and Regulatory visits
Work with Manager to continually assess teams processes to improve efficiency and reduce risk or cost
Error reporting and implementation of preventative actions
Execution of any change activity including the planning and implementation of fund launches, mergers and liquidations
Ensure compliance with the Internal Control Framework (Audit Assurance Framework (AAF))
Ensure all significant activities are documented in procedure notes and these are kept up-to-date and recorded on the procedures note database
Maintaining training and continuing competency (TC) for self and review and sign-off for applicable team members
Recruitment
Appraisal and performance feedback for all team members (e.g. regular 1-2-1's)
Manage any ad-hoc projects as agreed with your Manager (e.g. process improvement initiatives)
Education and technical experience
Requirements for the role include:
A full accountancy qualification (i.e. CA, ACCA, CIMA).
Experience in related role
Significant experience in financial services administration and accounting
Knowledge of the authorised fund SORP (2005) and FSA regulations pertaining to Unit Trusts and Open Ended Investment.
The individual for this role is required to be threshold competent.
Obtaining TC status requires passing and obtaining the following Investment Operations Certificates:
oQ1: IOC - Introduction to Securities and Investments
oQ2: IOC - FSA Regulatory Environment OR Principles of Financial Regulation
oQ3: IOC - Collective Investment Schemes Administration
