UPMC Corporate Services provides centralized support services such as accounts payable, purchasing, human resources, payroll, benefits, financial and medical billing, information services, legal services, and others to the approximately 25 different business units comprising UPMC.

 

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time Operating Systems Engineer - Senior to help support the Information Services Division (ISD) Enterprise Transformation Department located in Oakland.  The work hours for this position are Monday through Friday standard business hours with on-call and off-hours support responsibilities.  Under general direction of the management team, as the Engineer you will maintain systems software and purchased systems software packages, determine and resolve problems occurring in systems software or hardware and act as a technical liaison to computer manufacturers.  In addition, programming will be required to accomplish system to system interfaces.  The incumbent will define and provision storage at users request in a project-oriented environment, respond to, diagnose and remediate issues in a SAN/storage dynamic environment, and participate in capacity planning and performance discussions.


Basic Qualifications:

- Completed a 4 year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering or has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
- Experience with large enterprise SAN infrastructure configurations is highly desired
- Experience with large NAS infrastructure is a plus
- Experience with SANs, enterprise class directors and switches, Brocade preferred but not required
- Experience with enterprise and mid-range class storage products, IBM storage products preferred but not required
- Understanding of multiple OS environments and their relationship to storage.
- Experience with IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) preferred but not required
- Experience with Unix/Linux, and Windows environments.
- Strong math skills, ability to grasp concepts and attention to detail required
