Operational Accounting and Control Team Lead

The current responsibilities of the OAC team include Finance Operational Control (AVI - expected versus actual trade settlements) and Balance Sheet Substantiation team (supports PC balance substantiation), however the successful applicant will be responsible for driving the transformation of this team, which includes the migration of certain activities to Operations and Finance Balance Sheet Revenue Control as and the centralization of certain operational accounting activities. Additionally, this role is functional representative with respect to operational risk issues impacting the global Balance Sheet and Revenue Controls team.

The team is currently comprised of onshore staff located in the UK, US and APAC, and offshore/outsourced staff located in India.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:
- The migration of the balance sheet substantiation activities to BSR Controllers;
- Drive the evolution of the AVI model, transferring the team and relevant activities into Operations and BSR Controllers;
- Assess the centralization opportunity for operational
accounting processes, implementing centralization where agreed with relevant stakeholders; where centralized, drive improvement in the process up to and including full remediation / automation;
- Lead the Journal Remediation Team, working with relevant FAC RTB areas to identify and improve or remediate inefficient manual adjustment processes;
- Operational risk representative for the BSRC business area. Primary responsibility includes working with the central Operation Risk teams to ensure that adequate key procedural controls are in place across the BSRC team

This appropriate candidate role must:
- Be a qualified accountant;
- Have management experience;
- Possess a strong knowledge of fixed income and equities trading products, including related derivative flows;
- Possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with multiple levels of management, various business areas, and multiple locations;
- Have a solid understanding of Operational Risk, in particular from a Financial Industry perspective
