Responsible for coaching and development of Operators in a team-based environment. Assists work teams in developing performance objectives which are aligned to site goals. Monitors performance against safety, quality, and productivity standards. Coordinates operations, maintenance and engineering resources to ensure targets are met. Provides ongoing formal and informal feedback to direct reports. Utilizes situational leadership and reward/recognition systems to maximize the potential of all team members. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Technical Aptitude: Responsible for all aspects of operating and maintaining production equipment. Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures. Troubleshoots equipment problems, and suggests potential solutions to optimize throughput. Capable of independently coordinating and completing optimization activities, in a multi-shift, shared ownership environment. Approves equipment change control and qualification documents. Leads departmental and team meetings focused on equipment/process improvement. Utilizes lean principles and six sigma methodology to solve problems, and develops these problem solving skills in work teams. Serves as liaison between line teams and technical support groups where necessary. Conducts quality and safety-related investigations. Must be able to facilitate implementation of corrective actions to correct past performance, proactively identify safety and quality-related trends, and be responsible for initiating actions to prevent issues from reoccurring. Participates with other department leaders in development of departmental budgets and ongoing financial decisions. Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings. Leadership: Proven leadership skills aimed at generating sustained business results. In-depth knowledge of production equipment and packaging processes. Capable of balancing shifting priorities without introducing unnecessary disruption to the organization. Understands lean principles and applies these concepts to all aspects of the production environment.
