Operational Controller recruitment

A household name in commercial and consumer lending is recruiting for an EMEA Operational Controller to join a sector leading business.

With over 340 billion in assets, operations in more than 15 countries and more than five million customers, our client is one of the largest firms in the region. Reporting to the Head of Operational Control for EMEA, this role is accountable for auditing internal controls of operations across Europe, evaluating process performance, identifying risks issues and reporting these to management, to ensure compliance of all processes.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

-Develop and implement testing routines coordinating with Internal Audit teams of regulated entities where appropriate
-Lead and conduct independent testing to evaluate the effectiveness of controls through the analysis and testing of business processes and procedures
-Identify, assess and document key risks and related controls through walkthrough and process owner interviews
-Understand policies and procedures stipulated by regulators and ensure their businesses/COE is compliant with regulatory requirements
-Establish and maintain effective business relationships with management at audit location
-Identify gaps and recommend process changes and improvements to the process owners
-Identify initiative or automation opportunities that will drive productivity and strengthen internal controls
-Effectively present/discuss issues with business segments operations leadership, working collaboratively with management to develop achievable action plans
-Track communicate open audit items to ensure timely closure; provide expertise to assist business segments and operations unit with implementation of corrective and preventative measures
-Provide timely and clear reporting, communication and resolution of issues and results
-Participate in special projects such as due diligence efforts, corporate projects and operations management initiatives

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will need to meet the following criteria;

- Degree educated, ACA trained from Big 4 practice.
- Experience in FS audit/Internal and External/ideally Retail Banking
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with Regulators Management
- Strong written spoken English
- Unrestricted authorisation to work in Europe
- Willing/able to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Good working knowledge of at least one other Language from: French, German, Italian
- Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organisation
- Six Sigma knowledge and experience. Identify gaps and recommend process changes and improvements to the process owners
