Operational Controls Officer for IOS within Global Middle Office – Officer / AVP (Based in Swindon, UK) recruitment
Investment Operations Services (IOS), part of JPMorgan's Worldwide Securities Services (WSS) group within the Treasury and Securities Services division, has established an asset management utility providing outsourcing services to asset managers, spanning full outsource and lift-outs to modular offerings/propositions. The Middle Office group is responsible for delivering seamless end to end services to the client. They achieve this through execution of defined processes, close monitoring of Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators and through strong influencing of internal stakeholders (e.g. GPO, GDS and DCM) on improving the overall timeliness and quality of services.
We require an Operational Controls Officer to join the IOS Controls team working on a number of initiatives that will support the drive for an operation with a strong controls environment and excellent service delivery to our clients. These initiatives include a quality assurance program, control self assessment (CSA), error management, end to end control reviews and other control related activities. This role will work closely with the Operational Controls Manager to provide assistance in the execution of operational quality assurance reviews to provide stakeholders with assurance that business controls address operational risks and policies procedures are followed. Responsibilities include:
- Identification of key controls across a number of Middle Office and Fund Accounting processes. This will include performing the walk through of processes, sample based testing, gap analysis, supporting process owners in the development of corrective actions and tracking of agreed action plans.
- Manage the operational errors process including final review of event reports, trustee reporting, compensation payment sign off..
- Develop and report error trend analysis. Engage with trade processing, asset servicing and fund accounting teams to monitor remediation.
- Manage the monitoring and reporting of the training and competence scheme to ensure adherence to company guidelines across the operational teams. Spot check completeness of reporting and engage with owners to drive compliance.
- Ensure the current status of all control self assessment issues and related actions are captured in relevant risk systems and tracked to completion with operational teams.
- Co-ordinate and respond to any firm-wide requests for information around the control environment eg. Global Funds Transfer Policy
- Other activities as required in support of the quality assurance and controls environment within the Middle Office and Fund Accounting teams including ad-hoc deep dive and thematic control reviews.

- Previous internal audit experience in financial services with well-developed knowledge of investment operations (fund accounting and middle office services)
- Or external audit experience in the investment management audit practice of an accounting firm.
- Numerate with the ability to analyse data, evaluate detail and draw appropriate conclusions
- Knowledge of the full range of investment instrument types, processes, investment markets and their practices is desirable.
- Proven process review and project management skills.
- Well-developed communication skills with proven ability to influence at all levels including external client contact. Delivery of high quality written work to tight deadlines is required.

- Self motivated, proactive and able to plan and prioritise own workload.
