Operational Governance Manager Job in Mitcheldean, Midlands UK
Our client is a large, impressive financial organisation based in Gloucester.
They are offering a competitive salary of £35k to £40k with a 15% bonus.
You will need to have experience of Regulatory Compliance - preferably in the insurance market
Worked in an operational environment
Strong decision making skills
Worked on TCF principals
Knowledge of Expressions of Dissatisfaction - an advantage
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the operational business processes
- Allocate the requirements to each of the General Managers and work in partnership with them to build controls, processes and procedures to implement the requirements
- Make calculated timely decisions on the potential operational changes required and communicate to Director and General Manager
- Follow-up on action plans and project lead when change is necessary
- Understand the business processes and requirements
- Promote, implement and test all Operational Governance processes
- Analyse feedback from Compliance and if necessary advise on root cause improvements
- Agree action plan with General Managers to rectify root causes
Key Tasks
- Ensure all policies and compliance procedures are effectively communicated to operational management team
- Coach and train on compliance procedures whenever appropriate
- In partnership with General Managers ensure all regulatory activities within operations are documented and are processed mapped
- Advise Operations Director of any operational changes in compliance with regulatory governance and build an action plan to ensure the needs are met
- Work co-operatively with key internal individuals and teams to ensure all relevant issues are properly addressed and keep them regularly informed
- Advise Learning and Development of any changes to ensure appropriate training is in place
- Proactively work with the Compliance department to understand the regulatory risks affecting the operations department.
- Assess the risks with the operational General Managers and decide on a course of action.
- Be ultimately responsible for making decisions on Operational Governance requirements
- Ensure TCF is embedded in the operations department, review the monthly TCF report and provide Operations Director with recommendations in particular; Root Cause Analysis
- Monitoring Expressions of Dissatisfaction, recommend solutions and analyse changes
- Provide a technical reference point for regulatory issues
Qualifications and Experience
- Compliance knowledge within the insurance sector
- Operational background
- Experience of "Expressions of Dissatisfaction"
- Broad knowledge of FSA and other industry regulations
- Aware of the key principals of TCF
Skills and technical ability
- Ability to make decisions and take ownership, exercising sound judgement
- Be aware of the wider implications of any transaction to ensure the company’s best interests are served
- Ability to work independently without supervisions
- Mature, resilient, confident manner with the ability to maintain the confidence of business personnel
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
- PC literate
