Opportunity

The Operational Risk team works within Investment Operations to assist the business in identifying and reducing exposure to risks resulting from inadequate or failed processes, people and systems issues or from external events. This is achieved by developing and maintaining a robust framework to identify the significant risks faced by Investment Operations, establishing formal systems and controls to manage the risks, maintaining a process for monitoring the operation of these systems and controls, tracking the completion of any actions identified to address control weaknesses and regularly re-evaluating the risks and controls in the context of MG's risk tolerance and to comply with relevant operational risk legislation.

As part of the Operational Risk team the Operational Risk Administrator will work closely with the existing team and line functions within Investment Operations to promote and develop risk management tools for effective risk management.

This is an opportunity to learn and understand the mechanics of Operational Risk Management across an entire business division (Investment Operations), to gain exposure to all levels of the business and to develop/progress to an Operational Risk Analyst in due course.

Key responsibilities

- To provide support to existing members of the team with regards to operational risk management.
- Actively participate in team meetings, prepare agendas and monitor agreed actions to completion.
- Monitor on an on-going basis the Investment Operations SYSC reporting on the intranet site (covering Organisation Charts, Procedures, Role Profiles and Control Self-Certifications) and to produce a summary status report on this for the monthly Investment Operations Risk Forum.
- To learn the roles / tasks undertaken by the rest of the team and to provide cover as required.
- Monitor outstanding issues / actions via the Investment Operations Issues Log to ensure resolution and to maintain the Control Self-Certification Log.
- To be actively involved in the transition of risk information across to the new Risk System (once it has been selected by Prudential Group).
- To assist in the preparation of risk management reporting for the Investment Operations Senior Management Team and Central Risk.
oContribute to the completion of the monthly Key Risk Indicators Report.
oMonitor the management information received and to help identify trends.
- Undertake fact finding / initial investigations to assist at the outset with Operational Incident Reviews / quality assurance reviews of control self-certification documentation / new initiatives and projects under guidance from more experienced team members.
- To be responsibility for ensuring the content of the Operational Risk intranet site is up to date and that linkages to various related articles and industry forums are reflected.
- To become responsible for the completion of the quarterly Operational Risk Reports for the Investment Companies.

- IT literate - A good knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint

Desirable
- Degree educated or equivalent.
- A basic understanding of Operational risk and a desire to learn more in order to apply this to their respective areas would be ideal.
- Relevant professional qualification (IAQ or IMC). If not already attained, completion of exams will be required.
- Presentation skills.
