Operational Risk Analyst recruitment
We are recruiting for an Operational Risk Analyst to join our risk team in New York on a contract basis for a period of six months. Our team is responsible for the assessment, review and reporting of the operational and legal risk of new and existing investments. The ideal candidate would be a qualified CA or CPA (with experience auditing hedge funds) who would be happy to work within a small team and in a multicultural environment. The analyst would be reporting to our Head of Operational Risk. This position may require some moderate traveling.

Responsibilities
-Onsite hedge fund manager visits on potential investments where you would meet with the COO/CFO of the Fund and obtain a detailed understanding the operations of the business
-Ongoing monitoring visits to hedge fund managers
-Constitutional and contractual fund documents request and review
-Reviewing and monitoring relationships with service providers of underlying hedge funds
-Financial statements reviews
-Assessment and analysis of key operational and legal risks of each investment
-Preparation of initial and update due diligence reports for review by the Risk Committee
-Review and voting on corporate actions
Education and Experience
-Qualified CA/CPA with financial services experience and exposure to hedge funds
-Prior experience in operational risk is an advantage but is not essential.
Skills
-Ability to analyze and review documents and financial statements with a critical and independent perspective
-Strong analytical skills and report writing skills
-Broad understanding of the controls that should be in place at a hedge fund/asset manager
-Confidence to speak with high level employees at managers in order to gain an understanding of the controls and procedures in place and also to recommend potential improvements
-Shows initiative in the approach to the tasks at hand
-Excellent communication as well as time management skills
-Fluent in English
-Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
-Sound knowledge of databases and software (Microsoft Applications: Excel and Word)
