Operational Risk Analyst recruitment
Opportunity
The Operational Risk team works with Investment Operations and the business to identify and reduce exposure to risks in our operating processes and to comply with relevant operational risk legislation.
As part of the Operational Risk team the Operational Risk Analyst will work closely with the existing team and the line functions within Investment Operations to:
- ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of the MG Operational Risk Framework across Investment Operations;
- promote and develop risk management tools across Investment Operations;
- increase risk awareness across Investment Operations;
- work with the business to identify and mitigate the risks within their processes; and
- report the issues to senior management promptly and in a succinct manner.
Key responsibilities
- To assume responsibility for operational risk management for one of the business areas within Investment Operations.
- To assist in the preparation of risk management reporting for the Investment Operations Senior Management Team and Central Risk.
oContribute to the completion of the monthly Key Risk indicators report.
oMonitor the management information received and identify trends.
oTo challenge existing benchmarks for the risk indicators and to consider appropriate alternatives.
- To undertake -Introduction to Operational Risk Management' presentations to new joiners in order to provide insight to how Operational Risk is managed within MG.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual AAF01/06 Report and to take responsibility for several sections of the report. This will involve liaison with the control owners, ensure appropriate representation of the control environment within the report and coordinate the external audit process.
- To assist in the completion of the SOX404 sign-off process for Investment Operations. This will include taking ownership for a number of SOX walkthrough documents.
- Undertake Operational Incident Reviews and quality assurance reviews of control self-certification documentation as required. This will include conducting interviews, facilitating workshops, mapping processes, identifying control gaps / weaknesses and developing proposals with the business for improvements in the control environment.
- Monitor outstanding issues / actions via the Investment Operations Issues Log to ensure resolution.
- To contribute to project work as and when required.
What we are looking for
Essential
The potential candidate must:
- Have strong experience of operational risk and an ability to apply the principles in a pragmatic manner.
- Degree educated or equivalent.
- Be highly motivated and a 'self starter' with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Be proactive and delivery focussed with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Have an analytical mind, be unafraid to ask questions and be prepared to provide and receive challenge.
- Ability to build positive relationships within the team and at all levels across Investment Operations.
- Comfortable and confident to work on own and in a team environment.
- Be highly organised and with good time management.
- Exhibit an attention to detail.
- IT literate - A good knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Desirable
- Experience of at least one of the following: Investment Operations / Compliance / Audit within an Investment Management or Custodian environment.
- Relevant professional qualification (IAQ or IMC). If not already attained, completion of exams will be required.
- Process mapping and knowledge of Microsoft Visio.
- Presentation skills.
- Influencing skills.
