Operational Risk Associate recruitment
Risk Quantitative Analysis performs the risk management activities and quantitative analysis functions at BlackRock and has a Global Operational Risk team responsible for all aspects of operational risk, including error investigation and resolution, new product and business change risk assessments, risk reporting / analysis and the maintenance and development of the operational risk framework.
Key Job Responsibilities
To actively work with the Risk Management team and the various business groups it the firm to investigate and resolve key areas of operational risk at BlackRock. Excellent analytical and communication skills combined with an amiable personality are a pre-requisite. A degree of flexibility is necessary, as Risk Management techniques must adapt to changes within the business.
Responsibilities in co-operation with other team members will include:
- The implementation and on going management of a Risk Assessment framework.
Processing of operating events ensuring data accuracy and integrity in the Operational Risk databases. Responsibility for investigating, resolving and documenting operating errors and working with the business to improve process and procedure. - Processing of payments related to Operating Events
- Reporting and tracking on process improvements
- Risk trend analysis
- Training and working with the business regarding Operational Risk policies and use of the Operational Risk database.
- Review and provide risk input to New Product proposals
- Provide consultative Risk Management services to the business on a range of key projects where Risk is a major stakeholder.
- Participate in Global Group risk initiatives
Skills and Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree
- At least 7 years of financial industry or related business experience
- An eagerness to learn about Operational Risk and the Financial Services industry.
- Experience working in or with an Operational Risk team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and an ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- To be proactive, have a consistency in approach and flexibility to engage in specific risk projects/reviews on a short term basis
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Strong organization and coordination capabilities.
- Excellent analytical skills, including experience working with quantitative models, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions. Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view. Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change.
- Good negotiation skills and ability to resolve conflict between teams or individuals so that functional / organizational objectives are achieved.
