Operational Risk & Control Manager
My client one of the world's largest financial institutions and a long-established participant in the European marketplace are currently offering a fantastic opportunity for a high calibre individual to join their Operational Risk and Control team.
This role will act as the first line of defence to ensure that all operational risks are suitably identified and mitigated for the LOBs within Derivatives Operations based in London ORC Specialist providing oversight of the processing areas within Derivatives Operations that are physically based in London.
Global coverage for these areas is provided in other locations, this role is a hands on role working in partnership with the LOBs based in London.
Main Responsibilities
- Work within a global team to ensure Global Market Operations impacting risk initiatives are met to the required standards and within the defined timeframes for all Derivatives Operations LOBs based in London including: Collateral Management, Futures Client Service, Commodities Operations, and Structured Confirmations.
- Ensuring that the business raises issues in a timely manner appropriately quantifies these and effectively resolves them.
- Responding to risk related questions/queries and providing advice on key risk matters.
- Development, design and oversight of Key Risk Indicators (KRI's).
- Ensuring that the operational risk database, STORM encompasses all issues relating to areas of responsibility.
- Investigating and reporting on operational errors to ensure that there is no recurrence of the underlying reason for the error across all areas of responsibility.
- Preparing and reporting management information relating to the control environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience within an Operational Risk / Audit role within a corporate / investment banking is beneficial.
- Investment Banking Operations line management experience.
- At ease communicating with senior LOB managers and explain complex solutions into layman's terms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience of operational risk policies and procedures.
- Experience of managing and mitigating Operational risk.
- Experience of operating on a global scale, across time zones.
- Experience of project management skills including requirements gathering, planning, reporting, prioritisation, issue and risk management.
- Team management experience, able to motivate and inspire the best performance from a team.
