Operational Risk & Control (VP)
Operations Risk and Control (ORC) ensure adequate controls are in place, through providing an integrated risk and control framework to govern, assess, mitigate and manage financial and operational risk in Operations.
The bank is looking for a resourceful and dedicated candidate who can help design, deliver and implement the Operations risk agenda in the EMEA region and support the Head of EMEA Operations and Head of EMEA ORC in their interactions with the various regulators (mainly FCA/PRA but also other regulators such as FED and/or OCC).
Specifically, the successful candidate will lead the EMEA Operations Risk Group and will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring EMEA risk assessment packs are produced on time and to the required standard.
- Providing risk related updates to the EMEA Risk Committee and other Boards as required.
- Overseeing the regular submission of the risk metrics to the PRA/FCA.
- Coordinating the responses to ad-hoc risk related queries from regulators.
- Maintaining and expanding the network of Technology and Operations contacts in order to gather risk related information across EMEA operations.
- Coordinating EMEA Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP), ensuring that the process is aligned with the global RRP framework.
- Delivering of Front-to-Back presentations on key risk related topics such as Control framework, outsourcing and attrition etc.
- Ensuring a seamless integration of EMEA operations risk group into the global risk framework, providing EMEA related risk information as appropriate.
- Overseeing the review of incident reports raised by operations departments in order to identify themes and trends.
- Promoting a risk aware culture across EMEA operations.
Skills Experience Required:
- Operational risk experience from within financial services, preferably investment banking. However other backgrounds will be considered, e.g. Oil Gas, FSA / FCA.
- Good knowledge of front to back trade processes
- Product experts are NOT needed for this role.
- Strong analytically and attention to detail.
- Strong reporting and presentation skills.
- Ability to extract trends from reports.
- Demonstratable ability to challenge senior stakeholders.
- Ability to pre-empt possible questions from senior management.
