Operational Risk Controller, covering Market Risk and Quant Risk Control businesses recruitment
Operational Risk Control was established in 2005 to develop and implement an Operational Risk Framework (ORF) in UBS. As such, ORC is a global organization with direct contact with the Global and Regional Heads of Business.
The controller’s primary objective is to understand the operational risk profile and the effectiveness of the resultant control environment; to ensure significant operational risks are identified, properly assessed and recorded in the Operational Risk Inventory and have adequate plans in place to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
The controller’s responsibilities include:
- Independent challenge and oversight of operational risk taking activities.
- Analysis of internal and external risk identifiers and drivers.
- Independent reviews of business areas, events and key processes to assess the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Integrated reporting of operational risk exposure, including in support of OR governance proceses.
- Participate in and contribute to change initiatives, both within ORC and to provide expert guidance within functional initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong leadership, relationship building, communication and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with and influence people up, down and across organizations.
- Strong academic background; with a post-graduate qualification in a finance or risk related subject strongly preferred.
- In depth understanding of the operation of Risk Control and Front Office within an Investment Bank, preferably bringing a mix from previous line roles coupled with project/programme management and control evaluation experience.
