Operational risk is the risk resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems, or from external causes (deliberate, accidental, or natural). Operational Risk Control (ORC) independently monitors the effectiveness of operational risk management and oversees Our Clients operational risk taking activities.

Operational Risk Control was established in 2005 to develop and implement an Operational Risk Framework (ORF) globally. ORC is a global organization with representation in the Americas, EMEA and APAC. Its structure consists of global business aligned OR controllers with responsibility for front-to-back understanding and coverage of specific products in the ICS, CCS and NCL areas, including cross-product responsibility in areas such as Credit, Market Risk, Finance, IT and Operations.

Reporting lines ultimately roll up to the Global Head of this company. This position is part of the IB ORC Risk Architecture Reporting (RR) unit within IB ORC. The IB ORC RR focuses on bringing together the various IB ORC processes to communicate insights on risk and dimensioning of risk for decision making.

This is carried through three primary focus areas:
• Risk Architecture (Reporting/Dashboards/Data Management)
• Analytics Initiatives (Metrics Development)
• Operational Risk Framework (ORF2 Forum, Standard Operational Risk Tool (SORT) Implementation)

The Operational Risk Controller – Reporting Data Analytics primary duties are:

• Playing a pivotal coordination role in the implementation of the SORT functionality, operating process and data infrastructure to support F2B risk and control assessment
• Performing primary (project management) role supporting IB ORC in reporting initiatives including the development of regional reporting
• Manipulating operational risk data: searching, animating, cleansing, synthesizing, dashboarding
• Structuring data to facilitate and enable the multi-dimensional views and analysis
• Creating reporting views on various dimensions including regional, business division, functional, F2B for multiple and diverse stakeholders such as senior management, governance forums, operating levels, and regulators
• Creating long form reports and Executive Summaries
• Creating ad hoc slices and dices of information, in short order, from multiple applications
• Working extensively with Excel, PowerPoint, Access to polish data
• Managing/coordinating some discussions on the Reports themselves
• Supporting Analytics initiatives (metrics/KRI program, scenario analysis, capital allocations)
• Supporting/coordinating SORT implementation (integrated operational risk application)
• Providing liaison with ORM on SORT, ORF2 and data matters

Key Requirments
Bachelors degree or international equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership, relationship building, communication and analytical skills who has demonstrated an ability to work effectively with and influence people up, down and across organizations.

The candidate must be a self starter and entrepreneurial with relevant experience in a global organization and have knowledge of capital markets and trading activity.

The candidate must be very adept at working with large volumes of data across multiple data sets to create informative and clear views.

Project management skills are also important.

Specific requirements:

Control expertise - Must possess strong knowledge of internal control design, traded product front-to-back processes, cross product support and risk management principles

Product knowledge – must have technical knowledge of capital markets products, a solid foundation in the building blocks of traded products, the functioning of capital markets and investment banking activities.

Functional experience- Must have experience in one or more of trading, product control, middle office, operations, business management, risk control and auditing (ideally combined with more recent functional experience); good knowledge of traded product information technology

Business experience – Must have experience in a global, multicultural, performance-driven organization; Must have experience in process and organizational design; Knowledge of Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley preferred

Industry experience – Must have knowledge of banking/securities industry regulatory, legal and accounting frameworks in U.S.; Knowledge of operating in Brazil, Mexico and Canada desirable

Core competencies - Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to communicate complex issues succinctly and clearly to non technical persons; Strong team building, relationship management, project management and problem solving skills; Demonstrable professional integrity and a strong work ethic

Credentials - Must have college degree, with advanced degree strongly preferred; Special industry certification in risk, financial analysis, accounting or six sigma strongly preferred.
