Operational Risk Controller WM Origination APAC recruitment
Operational Risk Control (ORC) is an independent control function that is responsible to provide independent oversight of risk taking activities; to monitor the effectiveness of management’s efforts to manage its operational risk profile by maintaining internal controls or other forms of mitigation; to determine the impact of weaknesses in these internal controls on the organization’s Operational Risk (OR) profile; and to provide timely, transparent reporting of such against appetite.
As the Functional Operations Risk Controller WM Origination APAC, you will provide an independent assessment of Operational Risks in the WM Origination APAC function, based on the UBS Operational Risk Framework. This position offers you the opportunity to gain insight into different processes in WMSB Operational Risk Control and Origination, get exposure to senior management, work in an international team environment, and create value adding risk control, assessment and reporting which impacts senior management decision making
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and analysis of risk indicators, control deficiencies, internal and external events and legal, regulatory and environmental changes.
- Assessing the design completeness and operating effectiveness of the WM Origination APAC operational risk control framework and management process
- Defining scenarios for operational risk tail events
- Working in partnerships with other control functions, WM Origination business managers and risk management functions, for instance in assessing New Business Initiatives or conducting Post Implementation Reviews. Be comfortable with adapting an approach to facilitate communication at all levels of staff
- Providing risk reporting and advisory services to senior management
- Providing operational risk education and championing risk awareness topics
- Project management work in all areas of the Operational Risk Framework to keep pace with operational risk best practice, business changes and regulatory changes
Our ideal candidates should have the following requisites:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Wealth Management Origination or a control function aligned to Wealth Management Origination, total work experience 10+ years
- Excellent data, process and risk analysis and assessment skills
- Good understanding of the Wealth Management business front-to-back
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English with experience of reporting to a senior audience; language skills in German or a regional business language as a plus
