Role
- Executive Director, Head of Operational Risk Department (ORD) in Asia Pacific located in HKG
- Oversight of the regional risk profile and management of the ORD team (team of 3)
- The candidate will functionally report to Head of Pan-Asia ORD (located in TK), and locally to Asia Pacific CRO.

Operational risk is, "The risk of loss, or damage to a Firm's reputation, resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, and systems, or from external events." (based on Basel).

Operational Risk Manager (ORM) is an independent risk manager overseeing and ensuring risk management at the Firm level. Scope of risk coverage includes all business lines - Institutional Securities, Investment Management and Global Wealth Management.

Specific responsibilities of the role:

The candidate will have coverage role as a senior ORM in Asia Pacific, to selected business areas or functions (example: Institutional Equities Division). The role requires building strong relationships with business areas to have risk discussions and facilitate operational risk management framework implementation such as:

- Promote awareness of operational risk and risk management best practices
- Capture and analyze operational loss data, and as needed, advise the Business Area in developing effective mitigation steps and controls
- Maintain regular dialogue with business areas to evaluate changes in business environment
- Analysis and reporting of Operational Risk themes, risk levels and focus action items
- Project based involvement on risk management initiatives.

In addition, the candidate is expected to participate in global ORD program enhancement efforts and act as the regional point person for the Firm's Information Security Risk Oversight program, as one of the senior members of the global team.

Skills Required:
- Management skills: Require experience of managing the team. The role requires leadership to manage the team, providing guidance on pro-active risk management, setting direction to deliver results while maintaining versatility as the global OR framework evolves.
- Strategic thinking: Ability to understand big picture context considering both internal needs from the management and implication of external environment, and strategically build and guide the team to achieve the goal.
- Relationship building and influencing skills, representing the team especially with regional senior management. Given the risk management role, at times, the role requires the ability to ask tough questions or drill down into details, and at the same time maintaining partnership.
- Analytical thinking and experience in risk management functions, or in performing risk assessments.
- The greater the knowledge of financial business, products, processes, risk and control, the more value the person will be able to add to the role.
- It is important to have excellent interpersonal skills and organizational ability, given that coordination is required across global, cross-departmental and across multiple objectives.
