Operational Risk Manager
A market-leading Energy Trading business requires an Operational Risk Manager to support their ambitious growth plans across the UK and international locations. With oversight for a team of 5, the individual will contribute to risk oversight and control in relation to new strategic initiatives and operational capability projects. This position is ideally suited to a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent) who has proven experience of an energy trading environment from an operational risk perspective.
- Support the identification and assessment of major operational risks across core commercial and operational activities
- Develop a framework and process for ongoing Design and Effectiveness testing of key controls.
- Coordinate internal/external audit interaction and managing the responses to audit observations to address control weaknesses identified
- System access: define segregation of duties policy; maintain role system / access permission profiles; maintain Segregation of Duties Matrix; approve role related permissions; review active permissions; test permissions for exceptions / non-conformance;
- Business process and procedure KPI and KRI: develop and Maintain PITL Dashboard; develop and maintain reporting processes and reporting data integrity; develop and maintain KPI / KRI analysis and presentation; extract learning’s and risks; drive performance insights into business process continuous improvement activity;
- New Business Assurance “Functional Assurance Template (FAT)” process; maintain New Business Assurance tracker and FAT returns and actions folders;
- Write trading processes procedures
- Developing a framework and process for ongoing Design and Effectiveness testing of key controls.
An excellent working knowledge of the energy trading and supply chain business, across front-to-back office best practices is essential to the success of this role. Detailed knowledge of operational risk control processes and practices, including experience in their application and design and testing of, will be necessary. Previous management experience and a track record of successfully leading and motivating a high performing team will be central to the success of this role.
