Operational Risk Manager AVP / VP – Client Onboarding – Tier 1 IB recruitment
This area is responsible for the adoption of all clients to global and regional Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory policies across Corporate and Investment Bank and Asset Management. The group has global reach covering Central Europe, UK, USA and APAC with hubs in each of New York, London and Singapore.
This is a Control and MIS Team Lead role, providing an objective and independent view of Client Onboarding controls and the management of Operational Risk. The role facilitates the COB control face off to other control functions including Group Audit, AML Compliance and the Cross Operational Control Hub in the capacity of the COB control spoke. You will proactively drive the identification, assessment, measurement, mitigation and monitoring of operational risk and provide expert guidance on the development of relevant policies and control documentation.
Candidate responsibilities:
• Building and Maintaining a Control Framework: The client onboarding team are facing an ever more complex and changing regulatory environment requiring adherence to policy, this role should build a control framework that can report on adherence and quality standards including reviews undertaken by internal and external compliance/audit and regulators.
• Data integrity: The quality of the client files is dependent on the quality of the data held in the systems and a framework of checks and controls across this data is necessary.
• Risk Reviews: Proactive review of business processes to identify control weaknesses and remedial action. Reviews are requested by line management to address probable areas of concern or driven by specific control issues arising. They may include the mapping of process flows and managing remediation projects arising from the review.
• Control Support: Provide control guidance to all levels of line management, KRI follow up and providing input to control related process improvements.
• Error Reporting: Draft reports on significant incidents ensuring the background, and any control breaches, are fully understood with actions plans drawn up and implemented.
• Corporate Function face Off: Act as business face off to corporate functions including Audit, ORM and compliance. Act as an escalation point for control issues and ensure they are raised in the overall control environment and are set in the appropriate control context.
• Monitoring and Revising MIS: enabling the trending and root cause of issues and ensure early warning thresholds are built in across the team.
• Adherence with standard control reporting: BISO, STARC, Regulatory reporting, procedures, attrition/MTA monitoring.
• Team management and development: management and development of the control team and ensure the continuous improvement and control culture is embedded within the team
• You will also be responsible in managing Audit and Compliance relationships for Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Risk Project as part of the Operational Risk Framework and promote a control culture that fosters responsibility and accountability for all staff across COB.
Candidate requirements:
• Significant experience from within an Investment Banking environment.
• Significant experience working within either operational risk or internal audit.
• Strong knowledge of Investment Banking systems and controls.
• Experience of process analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and interpretation of data.
• The ability to influence.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong stakeholder management experience/skills.
