CORPORATE ASSET FINANCE (CAF)
CAF is the leasing and lending division of the Macquarie Group with operations located throughout the world. CAF provides asset and corporate finance, leasing, trading, sourcing and remarketing services for a range of assets and industries including energy assets, jet aircraft, IT equipment, , motor vehicles and railcars.
Based in London office and reporting into the Group's Business Operational Risk Manager based in Sydney, you will play a key role in assisting Corporate and Asset Finance Group's business teams in identifying operational risks, assessing adequacy of controls to manage such risks and contributing to the continual improvement of the Group's risk management framework.
Adding further diversity to the role will be the opportunity to assist and liaise with the Group's Prudential team on approvals for significant transactions within existing business activities and developing new business / product proposals.
Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively identifying operational risks and assessing existence and adequacy of controls to manage such risks;
- Ensuring appropriate understanding and application of the Operational Risk Management Framework through reporting, education and advice to business management;
- Assessing new product and business opportunities in Europe for operational risks, providing guidance on the approval of these activities, and ensuring subsequent conditions to approval are implemented effectively;
- Engaging with stakeholders in the Risk Management Group (RMG), in particular members of the RMG - Operational Risk team
- Working with support areas such as operations, finance, settlements, risk management and IT in ensuring a high level of control is maintained;
- Performing targeted operational risk reviews;
- Drafting and assisting with implementing solutions to process and control design;
- Cultivating and maintaining effective relationships and networks, ensuring rapid escalation of issues;
- Incident and breach reporting;
- Analysing operational incidents (including their causes) to identify control improvements necessary and ensuring actions are implemented;
- Increasing awareness of operational risk and controls across CAF through the development, delivery and monitoring of relevant training;
KEY SKILLS ATTRIBUTES
You will have:
- Experience in an operational risk management role, audit or operations
- Strong tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Audit, Finance, Commerce or a similar discipline;
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team of specialists;
- Strong relationship building and maintenance skills; ability to gain buy-in, trust and understanding, to influence and negotiate, be highly visible and to provide transparency of process to clients and team;
- The ability to initiate and lead conversations with business leaders and risk management colleagues regarding anticipated and emerging issues;
- A high degree of commercial acumen;
- The ability to deliver in a fast-paced, output focused environment;
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal;
- A confidence in presenting to a range of audiences;
- The ability to bring a high level of energy and commitment to the team;
- A proactive approach to dealing with matters and able to use own initiative and drive.
- Proficiency in a second European language, such as German, French or Spanish is desirable
The role will require occasional travel within EMEA and North America
