Operational Risk Manager – Markets recruitment
This role will be responsible for managing a small team and covers the following areas: trading, clearing, settlement, finance, legal, compliance, operations and risk management. Because of this varied portfolio they are keen to see candidates with exposure to a number of these areas through previous operational risk, control or trading positions.
Job responsibilities:
• Manage on day to day basis the operational risk and permanent control frameworks in order to provide on a quarterly basis:
- A reliable and up-to-date assessment of the operational risk profile and effectiveness of the key controls.
- The summary of the losses and near losses (including major incidents).
- The status of the actions contributing to risk reductions / control improvements.
• Ensure effective coordination and support to departments (Risk Owners and Correspondents) to guarantee a consistent implementation of the ORPC framework across the company.
• Analyse, in coordination with Risk Owners, the major projects / new products / new services impacts on the operational risk profile.
• Contribute to losses, near losses and major incidents analysis / impact on risks and controls.
• Verify the Board operational risk tolerance (2nd level of control on Op Risk) is respected and manage the risk acceptance process.
• Contribute to the ORPC function improvement by enhancing the existing component of the framework, developing new ORPC component and updating the ORPC documentation.
• Provide regular training and awareness sessions on ORPC.
• Request ORPC system reporting changes/improvements.
Candidate requirements:
• Trading, Clearing, Settlement and Custody processes for various types of financial products.
• Overall knowledge: Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Operations and Risk Management.
• Operational Risk Management: Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Control Management, Loss data management / Incident Management, Scenario analysis, Key Risk Indicators.
• Project Management / Impact analysis, functional analysis.
• Highly organised and rigorous approach.
• Ability to demonstrate prioritising workloads/projects.
• Highly inquisitive and motivated to understand the business activities.
• Be reactive to requests.
• Expert in coordination / customer focus.
• High level of communication (to senior management and staff).
• High capability to analyse and to summarise.
• Ability to gain confidence and influence.
