Operational Risk Manager, San Francisco, California
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Top US Banking organisation is looking to build out their Operational Risk team in San Francisco. This hire is in response to growth of the business rather than regulatory pressure.
The firm are looking for top talent who can work with and influence senior stakeholders to improve the operational efficiency and risk control of the business. This role assists with the implementation of the risk control strategy - ensuring the consistent and effective implementation and performance of operational risk and control assurance. The Op Risk Manager will be tasked with control assurance, control improvement, regional / country /functional risk assessments, incident reporting MI reporting including KI's.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the operational risk activities of the business unit’s compliance officers, policy managers, and business continuity recovery program coordinators.
- Coordinates and supports the implementation and management of all aspects of the enterprise risk methodologies, including tools, processes, policies, and procedures to identify, assess, measure, and monitor operational risk across the business.· Review with the business units operational risk capital calculation results
- Manages processes for escalating operational risks to senior management.
- Building relationships influencing key stakeholders across different business units.
- Ensuring risk control environment regionally is continually updated to support changing regulatory business environments
- Management of two direct reports.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience working in operational/enterprise risk within a Bank
- Strong quantitative skills, ideally an advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Finance.
- Knowledge of banking regulation – Volcker, Dodd-Frank, Basel II/III
- AML/BSA knowledge would be highly regarded
- Excellent communication ability – able to influence all levels of stakeholder
- Managerial experience a plus but not required
