Operational Risk Manager, (Targeted Initiatives & Projects Focus), Risk Management Group
About the Role
The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. RMG personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Identification and management of projects designed to enhance and improve the operational control environment of the Firm.
- Liaising with and managing stakeholders from across the organisation as part of a project team or as project owner.
- Provide advice and input to senior management within RMG and across broader business units
- Core project management responsibilities across the project management lifecycle including, strategy, planning, execution and reporting on projects.
- Provide insights and enhancement recommendations on people, processes and systems.
- Keep abreast of industry and internal developments on substantive focus areas.
About You
The successful candidate will come from a tier one / two consulting background and will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of consulting principles, gained across a number of engagements across industries.
Skills and experience required
- Bachelors Degree;
- 5+ years consulting experience ideally gained in a tier one / two consultancy with demonstrable understanding and implementation of consulting principles honed across a number of engagements across industries;
- Banking experience strongly preferred with a deep understanding of key processes within a large international banking institution, including working knowledge of operational control principles
- Consulting skills required include:
- Performance measurement;
- Excellent project management;
- Strong analytical and problem solving;
- Good relationship management;
- Strong influencing skills;
- Well structured written and verbal communications; and
- Strong achievement drive
- Experience in driving change and successfully managing projects to conclusion;
- PMO and or Six Sigma certification desired.
