Operational Risk Manager : Tier 1 Bank recruitment
Alexander Black Recruitment is urgently looking for an Op Risk Manager to join our high profile client.
This is a 2 year fixed contract.
Our client is a well-known Tier 1 Bank.
This is a full time role to continue to develop the Bank’s framework for operational risk providing the overarching process for senior managers to identify/understand the risks they are responsible for and controls mitigating those risks to help optimise the control environment and reduce the possibility of losses occurring. This role covers the whole Bank providing a global view of the Bank’s operational risk components, controls and processes. Responsibilities include developing reporting to senior management, assisting with the implementation of selected software which will facilitate reporting and action plan monitoring. The Bank has implemented the key components of an operational risk toolkit, but these need to be reviewed, updated and refreshed in 2011/12.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- To assist the Director ORIS on operational risk issues.
- To update the operational risk framework as required.
- To develop operational risk management policies and procedures.
- To facilitate operational risk and control self assessments with departments.
- To review existing KRIs and identify and analyse relevant KRIs and other risk information.
- To implement a selected operational risk management system across the Bank.
- To conduct training of new staff and refresh knowledge of existing staff.
- To record internal incidents, losses and near misses on an internal loss database.
- To challenge and provide feedback on information provided by the business.
- To analyse outputs from operational risk reporting, identify and assess accumulation of key risks across the business.
Candidates MUST have:
- EU Graduate
- 6 Years commercial post Qualification experience
- Familiarity with Basel II for operational risk.
- Exposure to and knowledge of Operational Risk issues, within a financial institution.
- Candidates will have demonstrable expertise in the supervision or management of operational risk.
- Candidates will have some experience or involvement in project implementations.
- Ideally Big 4 background
- Experience of looking at financial processes and related controls
- Business Process Review experience and finance background
