Operational Risk Officer – Wealth Management recruitment
The Local Risk Unit is an independent team reporting to the CEO of the Wealth Management business in the UK. The key objectives of the team are as follows:
- Provides assurance to the CEO and senior management that the control framework in the location is fit for purpose and is operating as expected (independently assessing the design and operating effectiveness).
- Validates the operating effectiveness of core controls by
- Regular testing and monitoring (so-called 2nd level controls) on a risk-based approach
- Reviews and walkthroughs
- Provides senior management both with an assessment of the control framework via reports based on LRU's own testing, process and incident based reviews and analysis of other risk indicators (including other independent reviews such as GIA, LC).
The LRU consists of a number of teams, one of which, Framework Governance is responsible for coordinating key operational risk processes, including management of the Operational Risk Inventory, capture and analysis of transaction errors and losses, production of risk reports to local management as well as to Head Office functions, and the local New Business Approval process.
A vacancy exists for a Risk Analyst within the Framework Governance Team.
Working closely with the Team Head, the role will include the following:
- Administration and co-ordination of the location's key risk processes:
o New Business process: ensuring that the process follows UBS's policies and procedures; assisting stakeholders to facilitate an efficient approval process; validating and assessing initiatives to ensure that operational risks are adequately identified and mitigated.
o Operational Risk Inventory: ensuring that the ORI is maintained in accordance with UBS's policies and Operational Risk Framework, so that all material risks are properly recorded, adequately described and assessed, and that remedial action is appropriately completed.
o Operational Losses: ensuring that operational losses are appropriately recorded and reported, and as required, performing an independent review of individual losses.
o Risk Reporting: assisting with the production of risk reports for the location.
- Performance of independent controls and reviews
- Assessment of risks within the business using all available risk identifiers and challenge functional risk assessments performed by the business.
Requirements
- Private Banking/Wealth Management background advantageous
- Previous experience gained from an Operational Risk, Compliance or Audit background advantageous
- Self starter who is able to work both independently and within a team
- Excellent Communications skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business
- Analytical approach coupled with an eye for attention to detail and accuracy
