Operational Risk Relationship Manager recruitment

Our client operates a three lines of defence governance model to ensure appropriate responsibility is allocated for the management, reporting and escalation of risk. Allocation of clear responsibilities for risk management ensures risks are identified, monitored, managed and mitigated so impacts remain within appetite. The role of the Relationship Manager is integral to delivering the responsibilities of the Operational Risk function as the second line of defence through:

•  Provision of expert support and advice to the business on the Operational Risk framework, tools and methodologies;

•  Provision of a strong level of oversight and challenge to the business on its execution of the risk framework, and a

•  Developed knowledge of the business and understanding of its operational risk profile

Activities/Deliverables

•  act as the primary ORM relationship manager to the relevant business line, and provide robust challenge at all relevant Risk Control Committees (RCC) and other meetings where ORM risk input is required;

•  maintain close working relationships with the business and support functions such as Group Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Operations and Technology;

•  ensure that the operational risk policies are deployed and training provided as necessary to support effective implementation;

•  analyse data gathered through the execution of the Bank's ORM programmes, including risk issues, loss data, new product approvals (NPRA) to identify existing or emerging operational risks;

•  support the preparation of recommendations, upon request or on own initiative, to upper management relating to the identification and mitigation of operational risks;

stimulate and improve the awareness of operational risk management within division, and

support the development and maintenance of the Operational risk reporting process.

Essential

Good knowledge of financial markets / international banking behaviours and products

Knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to ORM (e.g. Basel II)

Good understanding of Operational Risk and it's implications (financial, capital)

Well developed understanding of risk management principles within Financial Services

Good knowledge of how regulatory, political, reputational and environmental risk issues impact a complex financial services division

Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and confidence to deal with staff to sell the benefits of Operational Risk management
