Operational support
The purpose of the role is to support the trading platform, both internally and externally, covering system health (end of day/start of day checks), support of message protocols and message flow, customer application connectivity and troubleshooting the afore mentioned .
Job functions:
- Provide a first / second line support function, responsible for owning and dealing with issues reported by both, internal and external customers.
- Using in house tools and raw log files, undertake proactive monitoring of trading systems, customer and exchange connections, dealing with, or escalating as necessary, any problems that arise.
- Complete system checks at allotted times accurately then communicating their status accordingly.
- Understand releases to the trading platform and be able to answer any customer queries on changed / new functionality.
- Proactively monitor any changes that have been undertaken globally; understand their potential failings and be able to identify them quickly and accurately; follow procedures to rectify any problems.
- Maintain knowledge of message protocols supported and ensure that relevant information is documented.
- Create new and maintain existing documents on the website
- Identify deficiencies in monitoring or process and implement solutions, including scripting automation or procedure and process change.
- Own technical account management queries and support the business account manager in raising/tracking/implementing requests when required.
- Reference Data Management, incorporating listings/de-listings, CA's etc.
- Communicate regularly with relevant teams and grow working relationships.
- Ensure the security and privacy of our information and IT assets.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of the FIX protocol, to a level where candidate can read raw logs
- Python scripting
- Linux - able to navigate and interrogate file systems running in a Linux environment
- Understanding of exchange links, market data and general equities order flow from order entry, though to settlement.
- Proven experience working within financial markets
- Experience of SQL, running queries and statements
- Knowledge and exposure to a binary trading protocol advantageous
- Able to deal with customers at all levels
