Operational Taxes Assistant Manager

My client is a global leader in tax, management consulting and assurance services, with a well established and expert banking and capital markets group.

As the group continues to expand due to commercial success, there is a need for experienced Assistant Managers to join the dynamic operational taxes group. Servicing clients across 3 core sectors: insurance, banking and funds, this team provides expert advice on a range of operational tax issues affecting financial services institutions, in a constantly evolving legislative environment.

This is an advisory focused role and will suit candidates with strong technical and analytical skills. Your typical responsibilities will include:

• Technical tax advisory on complex areas relating to FATCA and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) regulations.
• Supporting the implementation of FATCA compliance programmes across a number of diverse financial services organisations.
• Helping develop the firm’s business proposition for FATCA and CRS.
• Drafting technical responses to clients on operational taxes questions, particularly around FATCA and CRS.
• Benchmarking of tax service providers for large global investors.
• Withholding tax and reporting analysis of cross border transactions, new product offerings and group structures.
• Reviewing operational tax procedures and processes within large financial institutions.

Candidates can expect an engaging and varied career within a team which sits at the forefront of tax developments within the financial services sector. The technical nature of the role requires candidates to possess strong technical and analytical skills; however no prior experience within operational taxes is necessary.

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to translate complex tax technical information into clear and practical communications. You will possess excellent project management skills, balancing competing priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines. Given the nature of the role, you will be required, from time to time, to travel to client sites, across the UK and occasionally Europe to gain an in depth understanding of a client’s business, developing credibility and confidence with Senior Management quickly and effectively.
