Operations Associate
SecondMarket is seeking an Operations Associate to join a creative, dynamic, and hard-working Operations group. This is a unique opportunity to work with both the Transaction Services and Member Services Teams at SecondMarket. The Operations Associate will report to the Director of Operations in our New York City Office.
Responsibilities:
Transaction Services
• Settle and close fixed income and bankruptcy claims trades by coordinating with our trading team
• Troubleshoot transaction issues directly with the counterparties and our clearing firm
• Monitor accounts at our clearing firm
• Work with the private company and community bank markets on liquidity events for shareholders
o Field inquiries from participants of various liquidity events
o Provide daily reconciliation reports to internal team as well as outside clients
o Populate and deliver transaction documents
Member Services
• Help to manage SecondMarket’s Member Services Support applications
• Interact with members by fielding incoming inquiries from members via email and phone
• Perform functions for onboarding new members
• Coordinate with internal Compliance team as needed
• Work closely with Director of Operations to create a more member-friendly experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required (finance or economics major preferred)
• Background in finance and/or trading industry preferred
• Basic knowledge of financial instruments such as fixed income and equity securities
• Basic understanding of trade settlements and broker-dealer functions procedures
• Some experience in customer service and/or community management, a plus
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Eagerness to be around fast-paced and fast-growing companies
• Passion for the online community space
