We partner with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside that vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.

The Commodities Documentation team is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the risk undertaken by the Commodities business across EMEA. A wide range of products are traded by the Commodities desk including Oil, Gas, Power, Metals, Agriculture, Index Products, Coal, Uranium, Freight and Emissions. The London’s team’s primary function is to support the Commodities Trading and Sales desks through the drafting and retrieval of Derivative and Physical confirmations for all structured trades exotic options.

The Commodities Documentation team performs a critical control role in the timely reconciliation of risk bookings with the confirmation and termsheet. The team is also responsible for verbal and written affirmation of structured trades with EMEA clients. The team ensures that all issues are controlled, reported and fixed by working closely with traders, sales people, strategists, IT and Legal, Credit and Compliance. We are involved in process improvements with special focus on STP processing and management of risk and controls, new product initiatives, development of new business in the EMEA region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Drafting legal confirmations for all Commodities products including Exotic Swaps, Forwards and Options for example, Option Strategies (Barrier, Knock-in Knock-out, Dispersion, Correlation, Variance) and Swap Index Strategies

-Exotic Trade Review  of risk booking and term sheet to ensure they are in line with matches documentation

-Direct point of escalation internally on documentation /template queries.

-Monitor workflows to ensure confirmations are prioritised accordingly and ensure timely dispatch of confirmations.

-Meet ISDA/Federal documentation targets

-Daily liaison with Customers on discrepancies and assisting in redrafting of confirmations

-Working closely with the retrieval team to solve discrepancies on incoming confirmations

-Daily responsibility for verbally confirming trades for structured commodity products

-End of day Broker Reconciliations

-Continuous review of processes and controls ensuring  high level of risk management

-Handling trade related queries from internal GS groups

-Maintaining effective working relationships with Front office Trading and Sales, Legal, Compliance, Credit, IT and other Operational areas in London and globally through daily interaction

-Maintaining and reviewing Procedures and controls and ad hoc production of metrics as requested.

-Driving efficiency projects including onboarding clients onto Electronic Matching Platforms and automating paper confirmations

-The successful candidate will also be involved in various other strategic projects, where they will be required to be innovative with a high level of attention to detail. 

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

BASIC

-Strong understanding of Derivative documentation and/or Physical Commodity documentation

-Accuracy and absolute attention to detail required

-Strong communication skills and presentation skills

-Have a control and risk mindset

-Be driven, enthusiastic and dynamic in search of improving processes, controls procedures

PREFERRED

- Previous experience with ISDA and/or Physical Commodity documentation

-Previous experience of working directly with the Front Office

-Excel Skills preferred but not essential

-IAQ qualified (or similar qualification)
