Operations Conversion Business Analyst (Rates OR Equity Derivatives)

Project Mercury is a major UK regulatory initiative significantly re-engineering the business model for the UK presence of UBS Investment Bank across all traded product lines. The programme is being led via a small core team operating out of the EMEA COO function, using federated program management teams across all relevant business areas. This role focus on moving the open portfolio of trades from one UBS legal entity to another (aka Risk Conversion) and on re-booking the trades so that explicit back2back trades are generated.

This is key element to the Mercury programme and will run into Q1-Q2 2014

Your role will be part of F2B Conversion stream in Mercury and will be responsible for identifying the high level approach and plan for converting the existing Rates Derivative portfolio and then working with the team to define the detailed approach and plan

• Conducting detailed analysis to define requirement and design for conversion

• Own the delivery of requirements and design specifications for above requirements on conversion

• Working with the Conversion Project Manager co-ordinate and prioritise the workload to meet the agreed timelines

• Coordinating work between cross-functional teams, potentially in different locations

• Leading and facilitating project meetings and workshops

• Resolving ad hoc issues on a timely basis.

You are or have:

• Demonstrable business analysis and/or project management experience gained within an Investment Bank environment (other Financial Services sectors may be considered)

• OTC Credit experience and/or related systems at UBS gained while working in a Line or Project role

• A proactive approach, working independently to tight deadlines with minimal supervision

• An inclusive ‘front to back’ approach, focus of thinking not restricted to own immediate functional area

• A strong verbal and written communicator who tailors communication to a broad range of audiences and levels within the organisation with confidence

• A strong team player and relationship builder, comfortable in working with a global and diverse team/stakeholders across different locations and looking to work in a cross-product environment

• Able to anticipate potential problems, ‘think on feet’ to resolve and/or escalate appropriately

• Able to influence others over which you have no direct management authority at different levels in the organisation

• Able to work prioritise effectively in a rapidly changing environment

• Competent using MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

It would be an advantage, although not essential, for candidates to have project management qualifications as well as a graduate degree at 2:1 or above
