Operations & Development Analyst recruitment

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Development Analyst to join our Business to Customer (B2C) team. With energy purchased every day for over 5m customer accounts, B2C generates a large amount of data and understanding this data better than our competitors can be a vital source of competitive advantage. This role will involve working with the other B2C Commercial teams to ensure that this vast amount of data is simply, accurately and effectively managed and processed. In doing this the job holder should provide information and, importantly, leverage to the other B2C commercial teams.

You will primarily be responsible for monitoring data quality across the business and externally by identifying and resolving issues and ensuring that data sets are defined in a logical and consistent manner. In addition the role requires managing data licensing effectively and within the terms of contractual undertakings, with costs fully controlled and assigned appropriately to internal departments.

A key requirement will be to work with the other B2C Commercial teams to understand operational processes, identify areas for improvement and provide development support. The job holder is expected to become a recognised expert in the day-to-day team activities. They must be able to self-generate work with the ability to prioritise to deliver maximum competitor advantage. Therefore strong numerical and business analysis skills are essential.

This role has a large number of stakeholders at all levels of the business and you will be given the authority to challenge and resolve any issues surrounding data delivery, data quality, or access to data. Continuous improvement is a key feature of this role and you will need the drive and influencing skills to see changes through.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to degree standard in a numerical / business discipline with a highly analytical approach coupled with strong commercial acumen. Strong IT and data modelling skills (Excel, Access etc) are essential as are excellent problem solving and influencing skills. You will have a history of delivering high quality and accurate work to deadlines with the ability to work effectively across business units to simply communicate technical issues and solutions to deliver excellent business results. Experience of the energy industry, retail industry, finance or a trading environment and a second degree / professional qualification in a similar discipline are both highly advantageous.
