Operations Dispatcher

 

Feed More, Inc. seeks a full time Operations Dispatcher for our Operations Department to schedule, route and dispatch transportation personnel and equipment to customer and/or department requested locations through UPS Transportation Suite software, maintain fleet maintenance and driver adherence to policies and procedures and support the Logistics Manager and Operations Department.  Responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling all deliveries, pickups, and requested moves; creating daily routes dependent on operation hours, service times, time windows, and available fleet and/or personnel resources; conducting on-route communications with drivers through route messaging, two-way and telephone; ensuring all fleet maintenance and inspections are accomplished on time, and all documentation is current and available; conferring with businesses and customers in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service on fleet inventory; maintaining DVIR’s; and developing and maintaining a professional relationship with employees and ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures, reporting any infractions to the Logistics Manager.

 

The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED; must have five or more years proven work experience in a logistics/warehouse environment plus 2 to 5 years experience in dispatching trucks plus five or more years of proven Supervisory/Leadership experience plus CDL B license; must be at least 18 years of age; must have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); knowledge of UPS GPS and  Fleet Maintenance Software preferred ; must have basic understanding of the principles, procedures and local laws of scheduling and moving product; must have knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology; the ability to make sound judgment decisions and good decision making skills in considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions; the ability to monitor and assess the performance of routes and transportation personnel to make improvements or suggest corrective actions; the ability to instruct, train and professionally communicate with fellow coworkers; must be willing to work in a Continuous Improvement Team environment; must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and must have a flexible schedule to accommodate corporate needs; some overtime, evenings and weekends will be required. Hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during training, other hours as assigned.
