Operations Engineer

Job Description: Microsoft's Health Solutions Group is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 2 to fill out their Health Operations Center (HOC) team. This resource will working their swing shift that starts at 4:00 pm until 12:30 am, Monday through Friday. This role will also include 1 week of being on-call, which is a very low commitment in regards to additional time. That on-call cycle will be once every 5 to 6 weeks. SE2 (HOC Labs Positions): Below is from a previous list of qualifications that we called for: 1. Strong Windows OS troubleshooting 2. Network experience; tools (CMD Line or GUI), terminology, OSI Layers, etc...specific device experience (i.e. Cisco, BigIP) is a plus 3. Strong IIS/Web administration and troubleshooting 4. Good/Strong SQL administration and troubleshooting; tools, T-SQL, backups and Mgmt, etc... 5. Scripting experience - Preferably PowerShell 6. Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V with Live Migration experience; managing, deploying, configuring (equivalent VMWare experience as a min) 7. Monitoring experience; includes deployment, management, and configuring SCOM (Mgmt of other monitoring solutions is a plus) Please keep SAN experience on radar, but it's importance to this role is greatly reduced and replaced with the SCOM skill set. Additional Job Info: In this role you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the availability of large scale Internet services. Providing technical support to our Tier 1 team for incidents and service improvement. You will work closely with the product development team to improve the scalability and manageability of supported services. Engineers are responsible for analyzing critical data to improve performance and optimize the services we support. You will work with intelligent people on the latest technologies. Engineers will fine tune the monitoring systems to make services self-healing and cost effective. Qualifications include: This position requires strong communication skills, great organizational agility, and technical writing skills. Candidates must function well in a team environment. Candidates need to be organized with a proven ability to make the correct decisions under pressure. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required. Candidates must be able to troubleshoot ability to analyze complex problems quickly is a MUST for this position. We are targeting skill sets that include strong experience with virtualization utilizing R2 Hyper-V along with strong Storage Area Network (SAN) expertise. Candidates must be well rounded Systems Engineers with solid Infra, OS, and networking experience. Requirements: Preferred hands on SAN (Fiber Channel and iSCSI) administration and operational support with familiarity of specific product (EMC, NetApp and/or Hitachi preferred) tools and industry standards. Must understand the RAID types, disk layouts, connectivity designs and SAN services (replication, security, etc.) thoroughly. Experience with multi-switch fabrics and disaster recovery scenarios preferred. Candidate must have experience with Virtual Server and R2 Hyper-V as well as managing and provisioning Virtual Machines (preferably with experience in PowerShell integration).
