As a leading aerospace supplier to both military and civil aircraft manufacturers, my client is used to the high demands of their customers. Part of a wider global aerospace engineering group, their success is due in no small part to the accurate and timely delivery of product to customers, with challenging (but achieved) customer delivery targets. To ensure the continued improvement of these standards my client now seeks a highly experienced Aerospace or Automotive professional to fill this newly created post.
The role will report directly in to the Site Director and will play an influential role on the senior management team. LEAN manufacturing has become a major part of Aerospace manufacturing and this organisation is no exception. They are embracing the techniques used in the Automotive industry and implementing them across their production processes. The aim is to be regarded as Gold Standard Manufacturers by an extra two customers each year, so continuous improvements are a must. You will have one direct report and your efforts will be linked with the Organisation's Global Excellence Team.
Specific areas of focus include:
• The deployment of LEAN tools, processes mental models; Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping etc.
• Ensure LEAN manufacturing is understood and promoted across the factory
• Define tactics and methods to foster employee engagement, successful change management and acceptance.
• Facilitate workshops and/or other forums to focus improvement, transfer knowledge and engage team members, managers and leaders in activities supporting the business process LEAN transformation.
• Provide leadership in the anticipation, recognition, definition and resolution of problems / opportunities associated with the LEAN transformation
As the ideal candidate you will ideally possess experience in the Automotive Industry or a forward thinking Aerospace Manufacturing facility that has implemented, or started to implement, LEAN manufacturing. Being educated to degree level will give you a distinct advantage although, if you are qualified by experience, this is just as acceptable. Strong knowledge of LEAN, Cellular and Continuous Improvement concepts with the ability to implement them whilst increasing productivity and removing waste is essential, while Six Sigma Black Belt is a desirable extra.
An excellent immediate position, this role also offers superb short to medium term prospects for development in to more senior positions for the fully qualified candidate.
