Operations Manager (Buy-side)
Operations Manager opening with an ethically focused Investment Management firm specialising in Emerging Markets with $30m+ AUM.
My client is looking for an innovative and dynamic individual to join their business and be involved in its prosperous growth. As Operations Manager you will be joining a unique boutique business that is vibrant, ethically focused and growing exponentially. The business prides itself on providing attractive and long-term returns for its investors through investments in the emerging markets. The business offers a range of products including but not limited to shares, fixed income, and money market instruments.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Management of all operational processes including: performance reporting, control and oversight of funds managed, brokerage and allocation process, trail fee calculation, reconciliation, settlement queries of trading positions, FSA reporting, statement preparation, payment and client queries follow up.
-Monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of external relationships including agents, brokers and sales processes.
-Maintenance of: trade history, reconciling funds to register, operational effectiveness and sales statistics for internal management attention.
-Compliance including: investment compliance and monitoring, broker communications, EIS compliance monitoring, and money laundering.
-KPI and Performance analysis aligned to internal and global objectives.
-Enhancing front to back operational work flows.
-KIID monitoring.
To qualify for the role you must have:
-Degree educated.
-Worked in a similar Senior/ Head of Operations role.
-Direct experience working within Investment Management firm with a Retail focus.
-Direct experience on the deal side including corporate actions, performance and attribution, service level agreements, commission and terms of business.
-Qualified to CF10/11 level. Experience to recognise and anticipate risks/ issues is critical.
-Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of the investment market, broker relationships and strong delivery mind-set.
-Proven experience in process engineering, ability to create/ redesign processes for efficiency internally and externally.
-People management experience, strong ability to lead and develop others, build strong working relationships with team members and external parties.
-Strong Excel and Access skills (macro, vba)
Technical knowledge:
-Products: robust and in-depth knowledge of UCITS funds, insurance related investments, mirror funds, broker discretionary holdings.
-Solid investment process knowledge, understand front to back controls, security custody and corporate actions.
-Subscription and redemptions cycles, information flow, impacts of NAV, commissions.
-Solid understanding of custody structure in how banks and insurance platforms hold client investments.
-Broad regulations and framework knowledge (with focus on UCITS).
