Our client, a leading investment management company, has a contract engagement available in the role Operations Manager (Funds Operations).
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the investment fund operations, investment fund accounting and corporate accounting processes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As Operations Manager, the incumbent will manage relationships with external service providers including custodians, administrators and auditors and will play an integral role in setting policies and procedures.
The Operations Manager is to be responsible for the oversight of day-to-day investment fund operations and accounting including supervising five direct reports in the processing of all trades, corporate actions, reconciliations, settlements and security pricing. To facilitate, the Operations Manager should have the ability to identify priorities while managing multiple activities. Proactive and able to cope under pressure, he/she will have both in-depth knowledge of a wide range of investment products as well as strong technical skills in both accounting and information systems. As Operations Manager, he/she must be willing to work with both the front office as well as to manage staff in the operations.
Qualifications:
As a strong candidate for this leadership contract opportunity, you bring a package of 7 or more years of relevant industry experience including leadership role in investment fund operations, investment fund accounting and corporate accounting. Experience having worked closely with front office staff on escalation issues as well as cash flow management and forecasting is also required. Experience with Bloomberg is a necessity while familiarity with the Imagine Software system and QuickBooks would be extremely beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have detailed understanding and leadership experience of alternative fund management operations and investment products, including but not limited to:
- Fund Accounting;
- NAV Reporting;
- Trade Settlements;
- Corporate Actions;
- Security Pricing;
- Compliance related activities;
- and multi-jurisdictional Master Feeder fund structures.
Candidates must also have an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of investment products including listed equities, restricted securities, private placements and derivatives. Additionally, candidates are to have a strong understanding of different fund types including Canadian domiciled Mutual Fund Trusts, Cayman Islands domiciled funds and Luxembourg domiciled funds.
A University or College Degree in Accounting, Business and/or Finance is required while accreditation as a designated Accountant (CA, CGA or CMA) is preferred.
