Summary of position: Responsible to provide leadership to assigned operations areas and ensure organizational effectiveness by way of continuous improvements using Tuthill Business Systems (TBS) lean tools and methodology. Strong business acumen is required, understanding the relationship between other disciplines in the manufacturing arena and the impact of operation activity on the financial performance of the business.
Essential Job Duties Responsibilities:
Ø Create and develop an employee organization in Operations to reflect the Value, Mission, Values, and Brand (VMVB) Statement, focused on Policy Deployment (PD) and sustainable success
Ø Plans, directs and coordinates all assigned plant operations
Ø Establishes production and manufacturing methods and measures to ensure high quality and low cost processes are used in accordance with lean management philosophy
Ø Participates in strategic planning for the department, sets budgets including capital expenditures and defines performance goals for direct reports
Ø Drives policy deployment through to the traction level to achieve the financial goals for the business
Ø Drive the organization to the pursuit of single piece flow. Create flow and linkage in the manufacturing operation. Drive SMED activities, resulting in increasing inventory turns year over year.
Ø Reviews and evaluates cost effectiveness, consistency, quality, accuracy and performance to standard work and takes action as necessary to correct discrepancies
Ø Provide Cycle Time (CT) =TT to support customer on-time delivery expectations.
Ø Assures compliance of plant operations with company policy, and Federal, State and Local regulations
Ø Promotes and takes a stand for Conscious behavior in support of TBS and PD
Ø Know the technical aspects of manufacturing, staff and lead Supervisors accordingly
Ø Drive root cause problem solving throughout the organization
Ø Manages any employee issues within assigned areas of responsibility and utilizes input from Human Resources and Leadership Staff to ensure optimal results
Qualifications:
Experience/Skill Requirements:
Ø 10+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Ø Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred
Ø Demonstrated ability to develop a team to successful performance and results
Ø Engaging and inviting management style for development of a highly motivated and effective organization
Ø Forward thinking and possess the ability to develop, document and implement systems and procedures that result in increased effectiveness for all areas of responsibility
Ø Strong problem solving skills
Ø Possess strong coaching and training skills for use in improving the capabilities and performance of team members
Ø Proficient in the use of the personal computer and the Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Education/Certifications:
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field preferred, MBA a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ø Work environment includes both office settings and manufacturing floor – temperatures vary substantially
Ø Occasional exposure to heat, cold, wet and fumes/chemicals
Ø Light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently – requires significant amount of walking or standing within described environments
Ø Ability to communicate information effectively through oral and written presentation Can convey detailed or important spoken instruction to others accurately, loudly and quickly
Ø Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound
Ø Travel by conventional means may be required occasionally – less than 15% of the time
