Operations Manager
Summary:
Operations Manager – machining, orthopaedics, ISO-13485, medical devices.
We are seeking someone who possesses outstanding hands-on capability along with interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Experience in a manufacturing setting is required. Any direct production experience is a plus. Consolidate and provide leadership to all operations related functions. Oversees, directs and provides leadership to Manufacturing, Facilities, and Engineering.
Job Description:
* Searching for a leader to guide and direct a multi shift operation
* 5 plus years of operations management
* Experience working in a highly regulated FDA and ISO-13485 certified environment.
* Past experience managing a close tolerance machining facility is strongly preferred.
* Experience manufacturing medical devices on multi axis CNC machining centers, lathes, Swiss CNC lathes, and mill/turn machine tools.
* Good planning skills, prioritizing production requirements in accordance with quality procedures and policies.
* Experience developing plans for efficient use of materials and CNC equipment
* The ability to direct employees to achieve production goals.
* Knowledge of managing production flow, capacity planning, resource allocations scheduling and inventory control is key to this opportunity.
* The Operations Manager will prioritize production, develop goals, monitor costs and develop / improve systems, policies and procedures.
* Strong leadership skills and experience leading, mentoring and motivating associates are required.
* Interested candidates will need experience utilizing production software and MS Office products. (proficiency with E2 software is a plus)
* Using data, the Operations Manager will adjust priorities, schedules, manpower and plans to achieve cost effective, profitable and efficient production requirements.
* Knowledge of sterilization, passivation and clean room processes is strongly preferred.
* Provide leadership to accomplish continuous improvement in manufacturing cycle time, schedule realization and total cost productivity.
* Translate business goals into departmental goals; ensure implementation of long-range plans to achieve or exceed goals. Track progress toward goals and ensures prompt initiation of corrective actions.
* Control the implementation of engineering changes to optimize product performance and reliability, production efficiency and effectiveness and minimize inventory levels of obsolescence.
* Implement key business metrics to drive the desired results and behavior.
* Knowledge and experience in regards to process qualification/validation is a requirement.
* Management of process development activities to include CNC manufacturing and special processes like, cleaning, passivation, and heat treat.
* Develop, implement and maintain state-of-the-art systems and methods for logistical control.
* Liaison with the organization to plan and achieve the timely introduction of high quality products and product lines.
* Builds, develops and manages leadership team capable of carrying out needed operational strategies and employment development activities.
* Ensure production goals are achieved and assure production and laboratory standards are in compliance OSHA, ISO and FDA regulation requirements.
* Implements improvements to operations to improve effectiveness, efficiency and reduce costs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Management
* Manage production personnel to ensure that resources are adequate to meet all production requirements.
* Manage personnel issues
* Manage employee performance reviews.
* Develop manufacturing budgets and staffing requirements consistent with company objectives; assure maximum utilization and efficiency of all direct labor assigned to manufacturing.
* Executes strategic business plans
Production Planning
* Learn and implement software to guide production planning.
* Create and manage production orders.
* Prepare and manage operational schedule
* Coordinate manufacturing activities.
* Work directly with Materials Manager
* Work with Office Manager on production-related accounting issues.
Quality System
* Learn and follow our manufacturing quality system, including work instructions and forms.
* Assist Quality Manager as needed.
* Participate in internal and external quality system audits as necessary.
Manufacturing Operations
* Learn and become proficient in all aspects of our manufacturing operations, including, but not limited to:
* Preparation of raw materials for processing.
* Maintenance of tooling and fixtures.
* Setup and operation machines.
* Planned maintenance and material changeovers machines.
Requirements:
* Motivated
* Medical device experience
* Clean environment manufacturing experience
* Production experience recommended.
* Minimum of 5 years of management experience is preferred
* Mechanically-inclined and good with hands.
* Excellent communication skills required - can listen, learn, and apply.
* Computer literate - Windows, Excel, Word, E2 is a plus
* Can physically handle lifting requirements up to 35 pounds.
* Detail-oriented and patient.
* Good manager and team player.
* Professional, friendly, and well-balanced.
* B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or Technical discipline or equivalent with 8-10 years of Manufacturing experience, is a plus
* Lean Manufacturing training and experience is preferred
* Good problem solving skills using Six Sigma tools and advanced problem solving methodology is required.
