Operations Manager Job in Milton Keynes, Home Counties Uk

My client is a global leader in energy conservation, green and sustainable development. For more than 50 years they have been manufacturing energy management systems that are used for energy-efficient day-light savings within the commercial and architectural construction community.

Due to EMEA expansion, the company is opening up a start-up UK Manufacturing/Fabrication facility in Milton Keynes. Working closely with the UK Managing Director US staff, the Plant Manager will be a hands-on person that will support the commercial/strategic focus of this new and significant growth effort.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership during the start-up of the facility with the aim of achieving accepted corporate metrics for Quality and Productivity and Customer Satisfaction
• Plan, direct, and manage all lean manufacturing, quality, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and distribution operations toward the achievement of these metrics.
• Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
• Implement best practices, process improvements and organizational development plans.
• Create, analyze and interpret plant performance reports.
• Create and maintain an employee training program.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering to launch new products and improve existing designs.
Experience
• Five (5) or more years of manufacturing experience, three (3) years experience at the operations/department management level.
• You must have experience in a bespoke/make-to-order production environment with working experience of textiles, fabrics or other architectural finishes
• Demonstrated record of improvements from applying Lean Manufacturing practices, Total Quality Management and/or similar concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in a Manufacturing, Engineering or Operations oriented discipline.
• A record of developmental improvement among subordinates.
• Six Sigma, APICS or similar certification.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute in the absence of a dedicated ERP/MRP system.
• A record of developmental improvement among subordinates.
• Able to motivate, influence and train people.
• A 'hands on attitude' that will require strong people management, analytical and problem solving abilities.
