Job Description Operations Manager (Environment Business Line) - Pittsburgh, PA AECOM is currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Environment Business Line in the office located in Pittsburgh, PA. : Job Description/ Duties: Duties will include the management of our Pittsburgh area office, which includes an active staff of 30+ individuals with diverse arrays of environmental skill sets. The candidate should have a strong background with commercial and industrial cliental, although federal and state government experience is a significant plus. This individual must also portray a strong background with client management and development, and have a sound background with office financial management. The candidate will be expected to maintain a client base and billable work load, and as such, experience with and understanding of personal and group utilization goals is a must. This position will report directly to the Pennsylvania District Manager Financially, the manager will be responsible for meeting and/or exceeding established office financial metrics including: - Sales - Gross Revenues - Net Service Revenues - Cash Management, and - Profitability. Specific duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to the following: - Manage operations, with a focus on financial, profit/loss, strategic planning, organizational growth and development; - Responsible to the district manager with accountability for driving PL with the responsibility for increasing profitability; - Manage all staffing functions including hiring and work load allocation; - Coordinate with other offices and business lines on pursuits and load leveling on projects; - Development of marketing strategies including managing proposal development and presentation; - Oversee management of projects/programs within the office; - Provide leadership to successfully plan, develop, implement and complete projects/programs while maintaining high professional standards; - Provide support in resolution of issues; - Provide leadership and guidance for projects and programs within field of expertise; - Provide leadership and guidance for implementation of AECOM programs at a local level; - Participate in the development of office policies; - Hire candidates and coordinate recruitment and selection of key individuals; - Maintain prompt and accurate communication to appropriate levels of management within the company; - Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and followed; - Ensure that Health and Safety procedures are being implemented and followed; - Monitoring of collections, invoicing and handling of all revenue, billing and/or administration of projects, office, backlog projects, workload forecasting, etc., and; - Direct marketing activities and utilize senior staff to establish marketing goals and objectives. Education: BA/BS/MS in related scientific or engineering field Discipline: Pennsylvania PE or PG Experience Requirements: - 15 years experience, including project/program management, business development, and strong interpersonal skills. 5+ years experience in a management role; - Prior leadership experience within an environmental or engineering company; - Demonstrated business development (capture) capability; - Reputation as a high performer, having worked in collaboration with senior level management teams to achieve substantial growth with profitability; and - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Supervisory Skills: - Mentor/training of staff. - Conduct regular review sessions with personnel and provide guidance for future performance expectations. - Establish and maintain effective communication with staff.
